9/11 Veterans Tribute Climb : A Success!

Post Series: Rock Climbing
  • 1.9/11 Veterans Tribute Climb : A Success!

Every year, In light of the events of September 11th, we gather a team of disabled U.S. Veterans over the course of several days to share meals, share stories over campfires, and share in the joy and triumph that an adventure like rock climbing provides. The goal of this event is to pay tribute to the tragedy of 9/11; to all of those who lost their lives as a result of that awful day and to highlight the fact that we have not forgotten but have shown the world our resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

This event always goes down as one of the most impactful and memorable programs of the year. This year was no exception.

On Wednesday afternoon the group arrived at Linville Gorge, NC where they were briefed on their mission: Gain the necessary rock climbing skills and confidence to carry them safely to the top of the 300’ summit of Table Rock cliff. As expected, this challenge was accepted and despite the unpredictable weather, changing itinerary and the obvious challenge that rock climbing provides, these men embodied a “whatever it takes” attitude and they did it together.

The resilience they demonstrated rests on the brotherhood they share. This bond is what provided the foundation of support everyone needed to succeed and made for three days of challenge and community that is hard to match anywhere else.

On Friday 9/11/2020, despite the circumstances, they summited as a team. As they always do.

At Catalyst Sports, we feel that we owe a debt of gratitude to all of our service men and women who risk their lives every day in service to our country and to the world. Therefore we offer this 9/11 memorial event free of charge as a small “thank you”.

The only way this happens is through a whole host of individuals and organizations who donate their time and resources in support of this mission.
