Join us for the oldest adaptive ski clinic in the country, celebrating over four decades of inclusive mountain experiences! This Learn to Ski & Snowboard event brings together expert instructors, dedicated volunteers, and participants from across the Southeast for four unforgettable days on the slopes.

Event History

This clinic began in 1981, founded by the Atlanta Chapter of what was then National Handicap Sports (NHS)—the predecessor of Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) and today’s Move United.

For over 40 years, Beech Mountain Resort has graciously hosted the event, with continued support from the Costin family and a strong network of adaptive sports programs across the Southeast. Through generous sponsors and volunteers, this event has become a cornerstone of adaptive winter recreation—providing the instructors, equipment, and resources needed to open the slopes to everyone.

🎿 Instructional Team

Our instructional team represents some of the most experienced adaptive snow sports educators in the nation. All are PSIA Adaptive Certified Instructors, bringing over 80 years of combined experience in disciplines including:

• Mono-ski, Bi-ski, and Twin-ski

• 2-, 3-, and 4-Track Skiing

• Slider and Visually Impaired Instruction

• Adaptive Snowboarding

Instructors travel from across the U.S. to share their passion, expertise, and commitment to helping each participant discover the freedom of the mountain.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Participants

Participants range in age from 5 to 70+, representing a wide variety of abilities and diagnoses—such as spinal cord and brain injuries, cerebral palsy, amputations, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, visual impairments, and more.

​

The event also welcomes veterans and active-duty military through adaptive programs designed to honor and support their service. We place a strong emphasis on family participation, creating opportunities for shared experiences both on and off the snow.
