Adaptive Climbing

Adaptive Climbing is where it all began for Catalyst Sports!

What is Adaptive Climbing?

Adaptive Climbing makes climbing accessible for people with any kind of physical disability. Using adaptive equipment and with a team of trained volunteers, climbers of any age, or experience level can climb in a safe, fun and supportive environment.

How to get started

Catalyst Sports offers indoor climbing programs at locations across the Southeast. We work in partnership with climbing gyms to provide monthly, (and in some locations - weekly) meet ups for adaptive climbers. Select a location near you and sign up for a program today.

Essential Eligibility for Adaptive Climbing
  • The climber has a permanent, disabling condition.

  • The climber can effectively notify leaders or other participants of personal distress, injury, illness or the need for assistance.

  • The climber can breathe independently, without any assistance from medical devices and/or trained professionals.

  • The climber can follow directions independently or with the assistance of a caregiver.

  • The climber can wear all required safety gear such as an approved harness.

  • The climber is at least 3 years old.

Volunteer at an Adaptive Climbing Program

Interested in supporting our adaptive climbers? We require belay certified volunteers for this role. All climbing volunteers must complete our adaptive climbing volunteer training before beginning. Create an account to get started.

Outdoor Climbing

Nothing beats the experience of climbing outdoors on real rock! These programs include all of the necessary equipment and instruction, take place within a fun and supportive community environment, and are led by experienced and passionate climbers who will ensure you have an incredible experience

We typically will have two large outdoor community climbs each year and these will be listed on our special events page.

Catalyst Sports Climbing Team

In addition to recreational climbing, we also offer the opportunity to train and compete in paraclimbing competitions under Team Catalyst. Learn more about how you can become involved in competitive climbing.
