Veteran's Silver Comet Ride

Overview
Join Catalyst Sports for a three-day cycling adventure designed specifically for veterans. This ride will cover approximately 140 miles along the Silver Comet Trail into Alabama and back, combining endurance, teamwork, and community.
This experience is part of our VetsCycle Training Program, which prepares adaptive and non-adaptive veterans to participate in longer rides and community races in a supportive, team-based environment.
Who This Is For
This program is open to veterans with visible or invisible disabilities, as well as non-adaptive veterans.
Priority will be given to riders who:
Regularly attend Catalyst monthly rides
Are actively training (via the Catalyst Sports Strava Team)
Can demonstrate readiness for back-to-back long-distance riding
Minimum readiness requirement:
Ability to complete two consecutive 40+ mile rides (80 miles total over two days)
Equipment & Support
Adaptive bikes available to borrow if needed
Support provided for transportation and storage of bikes
Ride support vehicle for gear transport
Lodging included for veterans (double occupancy)

Ride Schedule
Day 1 – Friday, July 31
Smyrna to Cedartown (46 miles)
10:00 AM – Meet at Bike Barn (vehicle drop-off)
10:30 AM – Load gear
11:00 AM – Ride begins
1:00 PM – Lunch (Dallas, GA)
6:00 PM – Dinner (Cedartown, GA)
6:30 PM – Team debrief
Day 2 – Saturday, August 1
Cedartown to Alabama & Back (48 miles)
6:00 AM – Breakfast
7:30 AM – Ride begins
12:00 PM – Lunch (Piedmont, AL)
6:00 PM – Dinner (Cedartown, GA)
6:30 PM – Team debrief
Day 3 – Sunday, August 2
Cedartown to Smyrna (46 miles)
6:00 AM – Breakfast
7:30 AM – Ride begins
12:00 PM – Lunch (Dallas, GA)
4:00 PM – Return to Bike Barn
4:30 PM – Departure (Mission Complete)
Lodging
Two nights at a hotel in Cedartown
Double occupancy (2 per room)
Lodging covered for veterans
Family members may attend at their own expense
Essential Eligibility
Participants must be able to:
Demonstrate veteran status
Ride 50+ miles per day
Make safe, independent decisions in dynamic environments
Follow instructions and safety protocols
Ride independently (with or without adaptive equipment)
Remain alert and focused throughout long-duration rides
What to Bring
Pack light (one duffel bag recommended):
Cycling gear (2 kits, gloves, jacket)
Regular clothes & socks
Personal hygiene items & medications
Sunglasses & sunblock
Charging equipment
Sleeping essentials (eye mask, ear plugs)
Note: No camping gear needed (hotel stay provided)
