White Water Rafting Trip

Join us for an adaptive adventure on the Nanthahala river with the NOC!

About the Trip

The crystal-clear Nantahala River is the perfect family-friendly river where experienced river guides will help you navigate through splashy Class II-III rapids and bouncy waves, with occasional calmer waters where you can enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery. 

NOC provides gear (PFD/Helmet/Splash Gear)

Volunteers may be required to help with transfers, equipment moving, and on-the-water support. Volunteers should be comfortable in moving water and able to swim. 

There is an opportunity for one caregiver / companion to attend alongside the participant. This person would also need to meet the paddler criteria for the specific trip. Youth 17 years and under are required to have a caregiver attend for the trip. 

Dry Land Training will be held on June 20th in (TBD location) in Asheville. Participants will have an opportunity to try on the gear and volunteers and staff will be on hand to outfit the rafts to fit individuals specific needs. Attendance is highly recommended.

Minimum age 7 and weighing at least 60lbs

Cost: $15 per person 

Essential Eligibility Criteria
  • This trip is limited to North Carolina state residents
  • Paddler should be able to breathe independently (i.e., not require medical devices to sustain breathing)
  • Paddler can maintain sealed airway passages while under water

  • Paddler can hold head upright without neck / head support

  • Paddler can manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion

  • Paddler can manage personal mobility independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance

  • Paddler can follow instructions and effectively communicate independently or with assistance from a companion

 

Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers who are experienced paddlers and can accompany the group for the duration of the trip. Volunteers may be required to help with transfers, equipment moving, on the water support and campsite activities. Paddling experience is essential. Caregiver / Companion

There is an opportunity for one caregiver / companion to attend alongside the participant. This person would also need to meet the paddler criteria for the specific trip. Please create a volunteer membership and register at the separate link below as a caregiver / companion.
